Mushroom Cultivation Workshop: Intermediate Techniques 5/16
🗓️ May 16, 2026 | 12PM - 2PM
Hands-On Workshop + Complete Take-Home Growing Kit
Take the next step in your mushroom cultivation journey at Mushroom Street Farms’ Arlington Farm.
This interactive workshop introduces intermediate techniques used in both home and commercial mushroom growing. You’ll learn how growers use Master’s Mix fruiting blocks to produce high-yield mushrooms and how the cultivation process moves from inoculation to incubation and eventually fruiting.
During the workshop, participants will work inside a still-air box to inoculate their own sterilized block with oyster mushroom spawn. You’ll seal your bag and leave with a cultivation kit that will continue developing at home as the mycelium colonizes the substrate.
Along the way, we’ll explore different growing methods, how commercial growers operate, and what to do with spent blocks after harvest.
What You'll Learn:
🍄 Different methods of mushroom cultivation for home growers and small farms
🧫 How Master’s Mix fruiting blocks are used in commercial mushroom production
🌱 The step-by-step process of inoculation, incubation, and fruiting
♻️ How to reuse or recycle spent mushroom blocks
🔬 Proper sterile techniques using a still air box
What You'll Make & Take Home:
Each participant will inoculate and take home their own cultivation kit, including:
- Sterilized Master’s Mix fruiting block
- Oyster mushroom spawn
- Clear fruiting bin with air holes and filter patches
- Spray bottle filled with distilled water
Your block will continue colonizing at home before fruiting.
